Isle of light 2017
Music Festival
Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
For the 2017 show I was commissioned to do specific areas for lounging and small stages for performances and activities.
Following the eclectic aesthetic of the brand, the pyramids were configured to shelter a VIP seating area and bar and a smaller one for lounging. They wanted to integrate cultural Dominican elements and that’s achieved via the use of the rugs and ornamentation that were laid in the ground for the festival goers to use when they needed to sit down, another cultural element was the giant dominoes table that people had to walk on to in order for them to play. Two small stages were placed on the field, one for a theatre performance with a setup of a living room and another for a group of traditional musicians to play in when the main stage was not in use.
The main construction piece was the VIP pyramid which was made out of metal tubes soldered in shape. The structure was attached to a truss base covered in black painted plywood to conceal from the view. This was then dismantled and stored for future use.
